Kelsea Ballerini is ready to kick off a new era.
The “half of my hometown” singer updated her profile picture and bio across her social media channels Wednesday (Mar. 30), and in doing so, seemed to be teasing that new music is on its way. Ballerini shared a photo of herself with her face partially obscured by a blue shadow and added a simple blue heart emoji to her bio.
CHECK IT OUT:
The change follows her official closing of the kelsea chapter of her career. On March 20, Ballerini paid tribute to her eponymous third studio album exactly two years after its release. In addition, she released the live video of kelsea track, “needy,” saying she couldn’t close the chapter without finally playing the song–which is a fan favorite–live.
Ballerini previously teased new music in a March 22 Instagram post featuring her dog, Dibs. Ballerini, wearing a suit, is posed right in front of the camera while Dibs’ paw makes an appearance in the bottom right corner. “Dibs [sic] paw symbolizes the proximity of new music,” she wrote.
The country songstress has been teasing new music and offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of her fourth album via her Instagram since 2021, writing captions like “all song’d out. 🤠;” “writing an album in a hotel room ✨;” “i’m workin’ on it;” and “songs, dominos, wine.”
But probably the most interesting tidbit she’s shared thus far is this picture from last summer:
Ballerini wrote, “got a new dress and wrote some songs for the next album these last few days… 🦋,” and can I just say I sense a blue theme here?
Ballerini hasn’t officially announced a new single, meaning fans–including myself–will have to wait a little bit longer for the big reveal, but she’s been busy working on some other pretty cool stuff.
This week, it was announced that Ballerini will be the newest face of COVERGIRL. She’s also an AERIE partner and recently played a spring break event in Florida where she performed a new song written exclusively for the brand called, “Keepin’ It Real.”
SWIPE TO THE FIFTH SLIDE TO LISTEN:
And if that wasn’t enough, Ballerini appeared at the Listening Room Cafe in Nashville this past Monday (Mar. 28) for a Song Suffragettes Event in which she was honored with the Yellow Rose of Inspiration Award. In addition, she was interviewed by her friend and frequent collaborator, songwriter Nicolle Galyon and they performed “half of my hometown” (her hit duet with Kenny Chesney) and “I Quit Drinking” (her collab with LANY’s Paul Jason Klein) together.
LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW STARTING AT 1:30:20:
I think I speak for fellow Ballerini fans when I say the first single from KB4 cannot come soon enough.
UPDATE: Ballerini announced Thursday (Mar. 31) that her new single, “HEARTFIRST” will be released on April 8.
According to Ballerini’s post, the song was written with Karen Fairchild (of Little Big Town) and Alysa Vanderheym and was produced by Julian Bunetta and Shane McAnally, who she collaborated with on her kelsea album.
“For those wondering, [the song] is a bop,” the songstress shared in the comments section of her Instagram post.
