Carly Pearce was moved to tears during a recent concert where she performed while serving as support on Kenny Chesney’s Here And Now Tour.
Pearce began to sing her latest single, “What He Didn’t Do” in Iowa when fans screamed the words back to her. A short moment later, Pearce looked at someone offstage in shock and held her mic up to resume singing the song as fans continued to scream the lyrics. Pearce looked offstage again then turned back to the crowd to attempt the chorus before being so moved that she started crying.
Following the concert, Pearce shared a brief clip of the performance to her social media accounts, including Twitter, writing, “ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This song just went to radio & y’all sing it like this?! I couldn’t even sing through all the tears! I LOVE YOU, IOWA!,” adding crying face and heart emojis as well as the hashtag, #whathedidntdo. At a previous concert a few weeks earlier, Pearce dedicated the song, which is a crowd favorite, to a 26-year-old fan named Faith who held up a sign saying she’d been married and divorced at 26.
Pearce shared a video of her dedicating the song to Faith on TikTok, with Faith responding, “That made my entire life. Thank you so much for doing this!!! Having that moment was so dang special to me. ❤️”
“Everything is going to make sense one day ❤️,” Pearce replied.
Pearce debuted her song, “What He Didn’t Do” back in January 2021 at the Listening Room Cafe in Nashville and wound up including the track on her third studio album, 29: Written In Stone.
She sent the song to country radio as her latest single on May 23. The song became the “most added” on country radio on June 13.
“Life goes on. You KNOW that when you’re reeling…feeling like the fool and so hurt… but then there’s a moment when those emotions start to clear. That’s when you look in the mirror and you ask yourself what happened and try to learn from your mistakes. That’s where “What He Didn’t Do” came from. To me, it’s really a song of hope and trying to get smarter before moving forward,” Pearce said of her latest single. (RELATED: EP Review: 29, Carly Pearce)
